2023 has but only hours left. For the gaming industry, it was a wonderful year. Of course, the biggest gaming news of the year involved a game that we still can’t play, which is the GTA 6 trailer drop. But that aside, it certainly was a good year for mature gaming.
Let’s look at some of the top games that entered the space this year.
Alan Wake 2
Survival and horror are the centerpiece themes in Alan Wake 2, and Epic Games Publishing masterpiece that has as much adventure and puzzle as it does horror and shock. The game won for Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Game Direction. It’s a potent experience.

Baldur’s Gate 3
This role-playing video game developed and published by Belgian game developer Larian Studios is based on the ever-popular Dungeons and Dragons. Yeah, that’s got some geek fuel in the tank, but bear with us. This game wan Game of the Year. Prior to winning that award, Baldur’s Gate wasn’t exactly that popular. The award propelled it into the limelight in rapid speed.
This expansive world offers deep lore, strategic gameplay, and a focus on player choice and character development. It goes deep!
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
I mean, the launch bar was pretty low given the original launch was so awful. But Cyberpunk 2077 eventually worked out its kinks and became a pretty stellar game. Its follow up, Phantom Liberty, didn’t experience any of the problems its predecessor did during the launch phase.
In fact, Phantom Liberty is flat out awesome.
This spy-thriller adventure is known for it’s espionage action, dope gameplay mechanics, and captivating storylines.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
This survival horror game developed and published by Capcom is a real head turner with its powerful graphics and shock value. The game’s action sequences are riveting while its overall environment is as immersive as any game out there.
This is truly a fresh take on the classic survival horror experience.
Gaming in 2024 won’t slow down. As technology and consumer interest continue to surge, expect even bigger and better gaming experiences to rise to the forefront.
