The Famous Deleted Martha is Dead Scene

Horror games are all the rage these days, but particularly as we approach October. One of the most intense horror games on the market is titled, “Martha is Dead.” And it’s got an eery history of it’s own.

“Martha is Dead” was created by LKA, but published by Wired Productions. And this is a meaningful part of the story.

The game was scheduled for a concurrent release on Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, as well as the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. However, just days prior to its debut, it was revealed that the PlayStation version would deviate from the original plan set by the developers. PlayStation specifically demanded the removal of an interactive segment from a graphic scene where the main character dissects a body. Additionally, certain explicit verbal mentions were omitted altogether.

“The changes in content were made as a result of conversations with PlayStation in the lead up to our launch,” Neil Broadhead of Wired Productions told IGN.

Now, Wired Productions claims that the story wasn’t altered in the least bit. And that seems honest given that its one scene removed that doesn’t seem to affect the entire story.

The more impactful part of this story is Sony’s intervention into the content. That’s not a typical way content gets regulated.

Martha is Dead is a dark psychological horror game set in Tuscany, Italy, during World War II. The game follows the story of Giulia, a young woman who discovers the drowned body of her twin sister, Martha. As Giulia investigates Martha’s death, she uncovers a web of dark secrets involving her family, her community, and the war itself.

Martha is Dead is a dark and disturbing game, but it is also a powerful and thought-provoking story. It is a game that will stay with you long after you finish playing it.
