Adults, they wanna have fun, also. There are many party games created specifically for adult. Many are complex, exciting, and even anxiety inducing (in a good way, we mean). But all of them are easy to play and tend to bring a room for of adults who are “letting loose” together.
When it comes to adult, or NSQFW card games, the go-to is almost always Cards Against Humanity. But did you know that Cards Against Humanity isn’t the only adult card game show in town? We bet you didn’t. And we equally bet you’re sick and tired of it. We aren’t saying its not great (it is), we’re just giving you some additional options.
Let’s explore other, lesser known, but simultaneously awesome, adult party games.
Drunk, Stoned or Stupid
We’ll start our top-list party with one of the more racy installations – Drunk, Stoned or Stupid. Yes, this game is as NSFW as you can imagine.
You’re given a number of totally inept, silly scenarios. You get to vote who among you would partake in those scenarios because they are drunk, stoned, or flatly stupid.
The judge for the round pulls the card. They next pass the card to the person on their left. That person reads the card and must point out someone and justify why them. The person selected must defend themselves. The card holder then passes the card to their left. Depending on how many people are at the table, this can get pretty unruly.
Yes, this game can be bad for soft friendships. Makes sure you only play this adult party game with friends who you truly have that sort of “we can’t offend each other” bond.
Exploding Kittens
If you’ve played Russian Roulette, first, congrats on being alive to read this! Second, Exploding Kittens emulates the idea with exploding kitten cards. Each round, players pull cards and if they feature an exploding kitten, you’re gone.
The deck is face down in the middle of the table. Now, if you draw an exploding kitten but hold a defuse card, you get to play on. The defuser player gets to reinsert the exploding kitten card back into the pile where they choose, and in a secret sly fashion. This means the player who defused the original exploding kitten alone knows the new location in the deck for it.
You might be wondering, how do they know EXACTLY where the exploding kitten card is? This is, of course, a deck of cards.
Well, they don’t always know exact location. Sometimes, they know its in the middle, top, or bottom. But some folks might count the cards which is OK to do in Exploding Kittens.
Now, they don’t get to look through the deck, only insert the exploding kitten. The other cards in the deck are used to avoid the exploding kitten card. For example, there’s a “see the future” card which allows you to view the next three cards. Clearly, this can help you avoid the exploding kitten card.
What’s more? Exploding Kittens is also available on Nintendo.
Slash Cards
How well do you know your horror movies? Slash Cards, the ultimate horror movie trivia game, will put your knowledge to the test.
There’s over 1,000 questions involving 100’s of horror flicks. You can’t win Slash Cards without truly being a horror film aficionado.
A lot of adult partiers enjoy dressing up like their favorite slash movie character and turn it into a big horror party.
Slash Cards is divided up into categories. Each player gets every category card, which includes
- Behind the scenes
- Category X
- Characters & Actors
- General Knowledge
- Plot & Setting
So, when its your turn, you get to choose the category of the question. If you get it right, you keep that category card. Get it wrong, well, you give up that card and it is no longer an option in your stable. Also, some parties enjoy making the incorrect person take a drink, But that’s on you!
Utter Nonsense
Utter Nonsense is all about the wild accents. And oddball sayings.
There are 500 cards in the deck. The game has you speak in odd ways, such as while you’re taking a dump or having a baby. No joke, this adult party game is freaking odd. You’ll get cards with sayings plus a card that forces you to have an accent for that saying. It’s all, well, Utter Nonsense!
The game takes about 30 minutes to complete and you can play it with 4 to 20 players. Utter Nonsense could be a family game, or not. You’ll need to make that call.
