Microsoft Edge released a slew of updates aimed at making it a top gaming browser. So what happened? What should we expect?
Microsoft doesn’t have the best reputation, mostly due to people’s disdain for Windows. But that’s apprehension and disdain doesn’t extend to gaming communties who appreciate Windows for it’s gaming reputation. Many gaming platforms, including Steam, mostly work on Windows based machines.
But then, there is the sad novella that is the story of Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft Edge is commonly ranked among the worst browsers out there. Edge often only outranks its worse predecessor, Internet Explorer. That says a lot.
Microsoft Edge’s prowess for sluggishness and crashing aren’t attributes the gaming communty looks to when selecting a browser base for their gaming experiences.
But alas, Microsoft Edge has made some wicked-good updates and it now may be the best gaming browser out there.
New features include a home feed specifically built for gaming, an ecosystem that harnesses more brilliant graphics for cloud gaming, and a number of other potent updates that are impressing the gaming community at large.
“Microsoft is all in on gaming,” Microsoft’s vice-president, Liat Ben-Zur, said at Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. “And as we recently announced, we’re building a platform for the next 20 years that offers the games players want on any device they want to play.”
This is all part of an expansion by Microsoft to allow their platform and services to reach billions of gamers around the world. And in some ways, that begins with attending to the fundamentals: Their Edge browser.
The Upgrades:
- Personalized gaming home stream that includes news, tournament information, new game releases, and Xbox Cloud Gaming Library.
- An improved games menu that allows for access to popular and free games such as Atari’s Asteroid and card games.
- The new Built-In Clarity Boost dramatically upgrades how graphics appear from the cloud. This means cloud graphics will “pop” more and display in more vibrant fashion, something gamers should embrace.
- Basic performance upgrades to bring stability to the browser while playing intense, resource-hogging graphics.
Many gamers prefer to stream their games through a browser. In the adult and porn game communities, streaming games is often a less system taxing and safer experience. So the browser selection is a mighty large and prominent decision.
With the new fanfare regarding Microsoft Edge, many porn gamers are likely to give it a try. And those who play porn games on Steam are likely to follow suit.
Unstable browser experiences are the antithesis of clean, fun gaming experiences. If Microsoft has truly boosted the Edge experience and gamers take notice, it turns the gaming browser world upside down given Edge’s current poor reputation for performance.
