Gaming Etiquette 101: Dos and Don’ts for Online Interactions

Whether you’re playing a mainstream game or a porn game, there’s always etiquette to consider. And clearly, that etiquette can look a bit different for NSFW gaming than mainstream gaming.

This is because while there are definitely a lot of multi-player porn games, most people tend to play these games alone, privately. And for good reasons. But that’s not always the case. There are many instances where you do play adult games in tandem with others, particularly when you’re interested in connecting with others.

All the same, here’s some general gaming etiquette to consider for any gaming scenarios which involve more than one person.

To Flirt, or Not To Flirt

We’re gonna begin with one of the least talked about aspects of gaming etiquette: Flirting.

Look, gaming is a great way to meet new people and in some cases, find romance and dating. And that’s a great thing. However, you need to understand when to flirt and when to just enjoy the moments.

First, just because you’re playing a multi-player NSFW game doesn’t mean you have carte blanche to flirt. Take it easy. Let the moments develop naturally. Don’t assume that someone is down for your flirt game only due to the type of game they are playing.

In more mainstream sectors, you definitely don’t want to go full flirt just because someone you find attractive popped on. That can make you seem shallow, and moreover, like someone who probably isn’t great at gaming. Get better at gaming and let your talents encourage the other person to flirt with you.

Show Good Sportsmanship

If you lose at a game, don’t immediately declare that someone cheated. And don’t start crafting excuses about how your computer was slow, or you feel sick. Congratulate the winners and compliment their achievements.

When you make excuses for losing, you become that gamer who never gives anyone credit for their good play. And that leads to people not wanting to play with you. It can tarnish your reputation as a gamer.

Give credit where credit is due. If you do feel you have an excuse for losing, keep it to yourself and fix the issue for your next play. If that was truly the issue, you’ll come out on top next time.

Be a Collaborator

No one wants to play with a know-it-all. Or someone that only tells everyone what and how to do things. Learn to be an active listener and work well with others as a way to achieve an ultimate goal. Be the team player that contributes positively to the group, not the one who sandbags everything with narcissism. Encourage others and appreciate their opinions and work.

Work together.

This isn’t about making friends as much as it is winning. When you collaborate, you lay the groundwork for winning.

Be Respectful

We spoke earlier about flirting and how that can seem disrespectful when it’s not appropriate. But there’s more than just flirting that’s disrespectful – in gaming, toxic environments are constantly the source of major news stories. This happens when gamers become abusive to one another and resort to petty name-calling and insults. This is the very opposite of collaboration and it leads nowhere good.

Trash talking, hate speech, and offensive behavior does not belong in gaming. Be mindful of cultural differences and sensitive topics. Be the positivity, the leader, the beacon of light. All that may sound lame, but in the end, it will increase your odds at not only winning, but creating friends. Plus, who needs all that drama? Gaming should be a good time.

Don’t Cheat

Just because you found a cool way online to cheat at a game doesn’t mean you should. You should never cheat or exploit a glitch or hack. Respect the integrity of the game, and yourself. And always report cheaters.

Don’t Spam

You are there to game, not sell your uncle’s weird pyramid scheme. Don’t flood chat or voice channels with unnecessary messages. Respect others’ personal boundaries and privacy. This should be obvious.

Conclusion

Be a positive role model. Engage on a constructive level. Help others. Don’t be a sore loser. Build others up for their play. Don’t spam or cheat. If you can do these basics, you’re gonna have a much better time at gaming.
