Helldivers 2 has arrived. The sequel to Helldivers, this third-person shooter game sets up in a universe where players battled against a wide array of enemies that include robotes, cyborgs, and massive insects.
There’s a whole lot of hype and a whole lot of type. By “type,” we mean “review.” Not a great joke. We get it. But it gets better if you keep reading.
About Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 is what’s known as a cooperative gameplay that allows up to four players to team up. There’s an emphasis on strategic combat missions. Players must consider the concept of friendly fire, creating a whole other challenge to the strategy.
Helldivers is a rich and immersive gaming experience with pretty good graphics, a fun story, and a definite good time given the team play.
This is a war for super earth and a fight for freedom across a chaotic, frantic, galaxy.
Oh, and EXO-44 is back, in case you were wondering (and, you were).
the EXO-44 Walker Exosuit is a manned walker equipped with powerful weapons like an MG-11 minigun and anti-infantry homing missiles. It allows for a powerful arsenal add on and heavily contributes to the game’s overall strategy.
Helldivers 2 plays well to low-budget combat movie vibes that adds humor to the story.
The current downside is that there are only two enemy factions, which could ultimately mean the content runs thin. Hard to say if there are plans to update with more robust content.
That said, there’s a ton of over the top gore that’s both laughable and exciting. Its a super fun play.
There’s an array of new weapons to unlock, including a floating dog that can lay fire down in your area and clear out enemies.
Graphics
In Helldivers 2, the graphics once again take center stage in adding flair and all the immersive feels. Most graphics are oriented to transition from a top-down perspective to a third person perspective that allows for pretty stunning visuals. In version 2, the third-person view is new and adds an awesome perspective. This new third person perspective allows you to feel closer to all the action. Its truly a wonderful change that allows you to see and experience more of the insects and robots and overall action.
Most of the scenes are a chaotic warfare style. Its intense. The use of realistic textures and effects make it feel like you’re in the chaos with your team – or alone, however you choose to go.
During play, the first-person shooter (you) always remains in a more vibrant, focused light, but the background isn’t blurred. The game does a wonderful job of lending you full perspective but highlighting your character’s play.
Conclusion
Fun, exciting, and riveting, with some humor peppered in, Helldivers 2 is a super fun play for you and your gang. Don’t be surprised if it eats up a handful of your Friday nights in 2024. That said, the content could be a bit thin so unless they update it, you may not be playing for the longer term.
