Apparently, women really dig virtual reality porn. Well, at least according to the latest research.
Researchers discovered that VR porn usage among women is surging at unprecedented rates.
With Oculus Quest porn already here and Metaverse porn on the horizon, a sharp increase in women interested in VR porn could reshape its landscape.
Women and VR Porn: The Research
A virual adult company named Dreamcam conducted research with the intent to learn more about VR porn use. What they found was that women’s VR porn usage has tripled since 2019.
The VR porn world is valued at over $700 million. So it isn’t a major surprise to learn that women are “getting theirs” as well.
One of the more compelling findings in the research involves the intent to use a VR device for porn purposes. Of the 3,000 people surveyed, 71% of the men said they bought the VR device with the intent to use it for porn (at least, some). But only 9% of women shared this intent.
What does this mean?
Clearly, once women get to using their VR device, they somehow begin exploring VR porn. Maybe they come across it at random, or maybe it is just general curiosity, but they not only discover it, they dig it.
Some additional research suggest that depression is a driver of VR porn usage. That shouldn’t come as a big surprise being that loneliness tends to inspired depression – and VR porn could feel like a decent solution to loneliness. Though the research suggest that pure loneliness doesn’t particularly drive VR porn usage. So hey, who knows why women are digging on VR porn? No one, apparently.
Maybe the reasoning is less complicated than we are making it?
Maybe, just maybe, women really love sex. And maybe, today’s men just don’t make the grade. Women dig erotica, sexual build up, and precision with the pointer. A VR porn experience probably offers all of that in spades. Men are often selfish in bed whereas a VR porn simulation experience is customized for her.
With the Metaverse coming along, one has to wonder where all this virtual sex lands. Women will soon be able to teleport themselves virtually into whatever sexual experience they desire. Women are more elaborate thinkers than men, particularly when it comes to the sexual experience. They may care if the environment is clean and if the home has a view. A Metaverse sexual experience will likely be a more robust undertaking.
One thing is certain, more and more women are using VR devices to access VR porn. Women are definitely vying for their fair share of customizable sex simulations and romances. And this trend isn’t likely to stall out anytime soon. So men, best bring your best game because women are finding new options that replace you.
