An Unorthodox Gamer Tips & Tricks Complete List

We say “unorthodox” because these aren’t the usual gamer tips and tricks. Instead, we’re taking a fresh look at things.

Real jobs suck. Gaming popularity remains at astoundingly high levels (probably all-time highs) so there’s lots of opportunities. Sure, the odds of you becoming a pro gamer remain slim, but they’re better than they used to be.

That aside, being an astute gamer who excels at crushing rival friends, foes, and strangers, is a worthy life goal.

We’ve got some gaming tips that will help you become a better, more competitive gamer. We promise, you’ve probably never seen a few of these gamer tips before.

Gamer Tips, Tricks

We don’t love the word “tricks.” Wait, who are we kidding, of course we do!

Have Focus

The art of gaming is all about focus. The more focus you can sustain over periods of time, the less mistakes you make and the more you level up.

Focus isn’t an attribute solely linked to gaming. Not by a large margin. Corporate executives, athletes, and gym rats all boast the benefits of focus.

And due to this, there’s lots of ways to vastly improve focus without the use of medications.

Diet – A diet higher in healthy fats and lower in processed carbs helps you focus. There are many studies, including this one, which reveal a link between lower carb diets and improved focus.  We’re not telling you to not eat carbs, only, to pay attention to processed junk that many gamers tend to rely on.

Gaming is a sedentary arena. Often, there’s a soda, or energy drink, or chips, beside you. This isn’t good for the brain. If you want to win, you have to think of your diet in the same way an athlete might.

Exercise – There is no doubt that exercise helps improve focus. In fact, regular exercise can alter brain chemistry that results in improved focus. We fall back on the idea that gaming is sedentary because it reveals a vast opportunity for a gamer looking to go next level. It’s easy to justify more hours playing, but in reality, that may do more harm than good to the brain when there’s a deficit in exercise.

Caffeine Up, But Not Too Much – There’s little debate over caffeine’s assistance in concentration and focus. There’s also no debate over caffeines place in the institution of gaming. That said, too much of a good thing could hurt the process. A moderate amount of caffeine may be good, but too much will have your focus wild and unrestrained.

Win, Or Learn Something

Its a saying you hear a lot in sports. It refers to the idea that during practice, you should seek to win, or learn something. The phrase “lean something” replaces the term “lose.”

So why?

The problem with always trying to win is that it results in stagnation to the journey.

You need to play in games where you are trying new things. You need to take risks. This will help you develop a new arsenal that’s currently outside your comfort zone.

This process will result in losing more. That’s OK, choose games where you don’t care about losing.

This concept isn’t new. MMA fighters train with partners and often try new styles which results in losing practice matches. This is how they add in new attributes that help them win big matches where large cash prizes are on the line.

Consolidate Your Focus

You don’t need to be great at many games, only one or two. Maybe just one, actually.

Keeping your focus on a single game means owning that game and all that accompanies it. It means becoming an expert in every aspect of the game.

We could relate this to styles of games. For example, maybe you want to be incredibly proficient at first-person shooter games.

When you narrow your scope of thought, you can immerse yourself and dramatically improve your play. When you spread yourself thin, you become decent at lots of games but not great at any one.

Invest In a PC

The PC is a far superior gaming console to Xbox, PS5. If you don’t have a PC, you’ll need to get one. If you do have one, make sure it’s up to the highest standard.

We understand that PCs aren’t cheap, so you’ll need to prioritize this purchase (or upgrades). Create a money savings plan and stick with it. Cut out some frequent purchases that aren’t all that necessary to your life. Shed the frivolous, win the bigger game.

Sleep, Meditation

A full night’s sleep is incredibly relevant to the brain’s health. The more deep, restful sleep you can get, the better your concentration.

We highly advise you to research ways to improve your sleep. You’ll find that diet, exercise (two aforementioned items) are big influencers.

There’s also a concept known as NSDR, or Non-Sleep Deep Rest) which you can do during the day. This is the perfect way to break up your gaming time.

Meditation is another good one. Like NSDR, meditation helps you restore the brain.

Conclusion

Diet, sleep, and an upgraded PC experience can all help contribute to improving your gaming. Maybe this won’t make you a pro gamer, but if you take a few of these items to heart, you’ll certainly impress a lot of your gamer friends.
