The Xbox Network Just Crashed and People are Freaking Out

First and most importantly, it’s Xbox Network now, not Xbox Live. We don’t want to convert, either, but our journalistic hands are forced.

Second, nope, you’re not imagining things. No, it’s not you. It really is them. Xbox Network servers are down and rightfully, people are freaking out.

Xbox Network completely conking out is a bit of rare air. It doesn’t happen, at least not on such a vast, widespread scale. The network has remained up and running for a very long time so the sudden crash has the attention of gamers worldwide.
Xbox Network servers are down and rightfully, people are freaking out.

The outage, consequently, is taking out Xbox Cloud Gaming and Microsoft Store. Much to the surprise and chagrin of many gamers, this situation includes downloaded games (more on that below).

Xbox is trying to fix the situation, because, of course they are.

The outage means you can’t make purchases in the Microsoft Store. You can’t cancel a subscription or buy a new one. No matter what device you use, you can’t use Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Its basically the end of the world.

Some games can be played offline after disconnecting your Internet.

And this person discovered that you can’t even play downloaded games unless Xbox Network servers are up and running. That’s because Xbox must verify you own the game using, yep, the Internet.

You can imagine how many people were pretty ticked off learning that they can’t play their downloaded games with Xbox Network servers down.

The good news is that it’s Xbox/Microsoft. Let’s be honest, these cats aren’t gonna stay down for too long. There’s too much money in this game.
