As if trying to protect humanity from satiracal, laughable villians isn’t already a big enough problem, now there’s a bug issue (at least, according to those playing Helldivers 2).
The galaxy is at war with three major alien threats: the Bugs, the Cyborgs, and the Illuminates. Your job is to take on these dangerous enemies.
But it appears the bugs are now at the forefront, at least according to the most trusted group of sources on the Internet – Reddit. Reddit users such as Litnos claim a new enemy is abound in the air in the way of flying bugs. And the situational certainly appears as perilous as it sounds, at least according to another Reddit user who video’d the whole thing.
Johan Pilestedt, the game’s creative director, took a lighthearted approach to the online mayhem regarding the pesky flying bugs.
“I’ve heard rumors of flying bugs in Helldivers 2. I want to officially refute such preposterous claims,” the game’s creative director, Pilestedt writes. “Everyone knows that ‘Bugs can’t fly.’ And I’m not alone in thinking this. The Ministry of Truth agrees that this is propaganda from bug sympathizers that want to brainwash good people. #Lies.”
He continued, “A true patriot would never have seen such filthy lies and believed the lies spread by the enemies of Super Earth. They wanted to discredit the Exosuit R&D program, by implying there were stockpiles not utilized in the war effort. Anything that can help bring peace to the galaxy is Super Earth’s top priority. ‘Flying bugs’ on the other hand are filthy lies.”
There’s a lot of energy now aimed at these supposed flying bugs that continue to wreak havoc across Helldivers 2. And it’s lending a lot of great PR towards the game. Which hey, that’s what these gaming developers love.
