John Wick is one of the biggest action-thriller movie franchises we’ve ever seen. Since its release in fall of 2014, it’s grossed half a billion dollars and is undoubtedly a global iconic series. John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to release in the spring of 2023, so that number should rise dramatically. But the John Wick series may not be happy stopping at movies. Nope, John Wick games are a definite possibility for the future.
And we should all be happy.
During a recent earnings call, Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer said the company is in the market for a gaming provider. In other words, Lionsgate seems to be requesting pictches from gaming companies that can convert John Wick into a game.
Given Keanu Reeves allows fans to have sex with him virtually, our hopes are super high for a John Wick game. Not that Lionsgate would go THAT NSFW – but it would still be cool.
Feltheimer says that if a John Wick game comes to be, it will likely be at the hands of a Triple A developer.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself here…we have been fielding proposals. We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time.”
Some of you might be thinking, “wait, isn’t there already a John Wick game?”
The answer is, “kind of.”
Bithell Games created John Wick Hex. Also, Keanu makes an appearance in Cyberpunk 2077. But none of that reflects the level of attention and detail of a purely John Wick titled game with the backing of Lionsgate. We’d expect a pretty intense, dope experience.
John Wick movies feature some of the most heartpounding action scenes in any movies, so it stands to reason that John Wick games would deploy some pretty intense thriller sequences.
Although we wouldn’t expect a fully adult game scenario, the fact that Wick has love interests, guns, and uses kung fu to fight enemies means the game would most like be NSFW at the very least.
If a John Wick game series does evolve, we assume it would be a first-person shooter game.
All the same, there’s a lot to be excited about if you’re a gamer. Difficult to imagine whatever comes of this won’t be great and feature stunning graphics and at least a decent narrative.
