Nreal Adding Steam Games To Virtual Reality Lineup

Nreal, the popular Chinese-made virtual reality glasses, announced it is adding Steam games to it’s lineup. Steam offers a variety of porn games on it’s network. So yeah, you probably think you know where this is going.

Actually, it’s not going there, yet. I’ll explain.

Nreal offers Nreal Light and Nreal Air AR glasses. Right now, you can use Nreal Light shades to stream from Xbox Cloud and some other services. The glasses cast the game onto a 200-inch virtual screen. It’s a massive experience to say the least.

Nreal now plans to offer the same service for Steam. But, wait for it… Only for select games. And no, none of those games are adult in nature.

The good news is that Nreal will support Halo games. And Nreal says it does plan to include more Steam titles as time goes on. So maybe there is hope?

The set up is beta right now and getting it to work properly is no easy task. Clearly, Nreal plans to make all this easier as they iron out the kinks. As Steam porn game fans are hopeful they add in some kinks (pun intended).

What Are Nreal AR Glasses?

Nreal AR glasses allow users to cast their content via some smartphones. When we say “some smartphones,” we mean they won’t work with iPhones or old Androids. The reason is that Nreal AR glasses require a USB-C port.

This is how they draw power. This is a big deal given Vive Flow does allow you to connect to powerbank sources. For Nreal, you must charge from your compatible smartphone. And that sucks.

To be clear, Nreal technology mitigates how much power your smartphone loses during the process. But still, it ties up your phone, and let’s face it, we’re addicted to those little devils.

If you aren’t connected to your smart device, you can’t use Nreal. They don’t work wirelessly.

Nreal works best with many Android devices and OnePlus 8 5G UW.

Here’s an entire up-to-date list of Nreal compatible devices:

The compatibity restrictions severely limit the market share that Nreal AR glasses can potentially capture. To that point, a $600 price point doesn’t help entice purchases.

Now, there are ways iPhone users and Nreal can play together. The Nreal Light can be paired with an Nreal Streaming Box and from there, you can work in your iPhone. But that’s a lot of hoops to jump through in order to pair up your fancy iPhone.

But there may be more to this story. Apple is considered late to the game with AR/VR. Apple Glass is expected to launch in 2024. For Apple, that’s an incredibly long time to wait given Nreal and Vive Flow are penetrating market share. In fact, Apple failing to launch Apple Glass at the last WWDC event was a major flop.

Anyways, enough with the Apple hate.

Nreal AR glasses are super lightweight and sleek to sport on your face. They’re a great idea, but a high price point and restrictive compatibility does limit our excitement.

How Do Nreal Glasses Work?

First, you plug in Nreal glasses into your phone’s USB-C socket. Nreal should detect your smartphone’s OS and launch from there.

Now, your phone will suddenly become a sweet laser pointer and this is how you navigate the menu that’s laid out before your eyes.

Fear not for those who don’t like the laser pointer idea, you can use your phone’s navigation and home button to interact with the screen. The phone will offer a slider menu that’s convenient and easy to use.

In terms of sound, the Nreal AR glasses have tiny slits inside their rims located right above your ears. This is where the sound derives from and overall, it’s pretty good. That said, you can use your preferred headphones.

The glasses utilize micro-OLED technology that pumps up resolution to 1080 per eye. Its insane technology that allows a user to experience thousands of times more resolution than possible on a TV or massive computer display.

Essentially, Nreal AR glasses super impose whatever you’re viewing so it appears before you in reality. This is the critical differentiating factor between VR and AR. AR displays over the top of your current reality, whereas VR creates a whole new reality. Both have their places and both are super cool.

Now, the big question remains, when can users play porn games on Nreal? Time will tell, but given Nreal is beginning a relationship with Steam games, we are heading in such directions.
